IDS Relies on the EIKONA Enterprise Platform: Central Cloud Solution Improves Communication and Processes
The platform not only optimises vehicle management and dispatch operations but also enhances communication and collaboration between partners and drivers through its flexible, workflow-driven driver app – a core component of the new solution. Following the successful rollout at Spedition Noerpel in Heidenheim, the EIKONA Enterprise Platform will go live at 27 IDS partner depots by the end of February 2025 – marking another significant milestone in the digital transformation of IDS cooperation partners.
A Digital Platform with Many Advantages
By introducing the EIKONA Enterprise Platform as a centralised cloud solution, IDS unifies the previously decentralised systems of its partners, enabling seamless communication and streamlined processes across the entire network. The platform delivers significantly greater transparency, efficiency, and flexibility, while eliminating media disruptions and enhancing both operational and strategic workflows.
The decision to adopt the EIKONA Enterprise Platform was driven by its extensive potential for optimisation. The system not only replaces legacy software but also secures the long-term success of the IDS Network by leveraging a future-proof technology stack, based on modern standards. Thanks to the integrated workflow designer, the platform can be easily adapted to future processes.
With its geo-redundant hosting infrastructure in secure data centres, the solution ensures exceptional availability and reliability. Data is stored redundantly, ensuring the platform remains robust and operational even in the event of system disruptions.
A Tool for the Digital Future of Logistics
“The introduction of the EIKONA Enterprise Platform is a key milestone for the IDS network,” explains Dr. Michael Bargl, Managing Director of IDS. “This solution makes our processes more efficient, strengthens collaboration with our partners, and ensures even more reliable fleet management. The integration of the workflow-based driver app into dispatching and vehicle management has the potential to fundamentally optimise our daily operations.”
EIKONA Enterprise Platform: The Single Point of Truth for the IDS Network
Through this central data hub, all partners can monitor shipment status in real time and manage every aspect of their logistics operations. This covers order entry and allocation, as well as the efficient management of resource and transport capacity.
An essential component for IDS is the dispatch interface, facilitating direct management of local transport operations. Dispatchers can plan tours, assign vehicles, and coordinate the entire transport process in real time, without media interruptions – all visualised directly on the map. The workflow-based driver app supports not only standard delivery and pickup processes but also special workflows, such as swap body handling and specific branch deliveries. An integrated chat feature promotes direct communication among all stakeholders – from dispatchers and drivers to subcontractors. Real-time data exchange ensures that queries and issues are addressed quickly and efficiently.
Another key component of the platform is the management of subcontractors, which facilitates closer collaboration by seamlessly integrating external partners into logistics processes. Subcontractors gain access to all relevant order information and can create their own tours using a mobile dispatch interface. The platform allows for individual order entry supported by intelligent routing mechanisms, automatically assigning orders to the appropriate location, subcontractor, or vehicle.
API integration ensures seamless connectivity with the existing IT systems of participating companies. This minimises additional workload and allows established systems to remain in use.
