EIKONA Enterprise Platform: Real-Time Data Exchange at IDS

EIKONA Logistics and IDS have jointly achieved a milestone in the digitalisation of the general cargo network. With the cloud-based dataHUB, based on the EIKONA Enterprise Platform, IDS is connecting its system headquarters, partners, depots and drivers in a shared data world for the first time. The result: real-time data exchange without media breaks – for greater efficiency, transparency and sustainability in operations.

Connected across all locations

Since August 2025, 28 of 54 IDS locations have been using the enterprise platform and driver app from EIKONA Logistics. Order entry and route planning via web applications and digital documentation of pick-up and delivery processes via the app are among the features used. The platform is connected to the transport management systems of IDS partners, ensuring that all data is synchronised throughout – a clear benefit in terms of transparency and process quality.

At the same time, new communication technology has been introduced that enables real-time communication between all depots and local transport software solutions.

At the heart of it all: the dataHUB

The dataHUB acts as a central hub for processing and distributing orders and status information. It ensures uninterrupted real-time data exchange – even when partners use different systems.

"The dataHUB takes the complexity out of the network and speeds things up", says IDS Managing Director Michael Bargl. “New partners and systems can now be integrated much more quickly – just in time for the onboarding of new locations on 1 January 2026.”

Thanks to central master data management, routings and structures can now be updated for the entire network in just a few minutes. Media breaks are avoided, process operability is improved, and service quality is noticeably enhanced.

Mobile support via driver app

Another key component is the mobile driver app developed by EIKONA Logistics in collaboration with IDS. It tracks and documents collection and delivery processes, provides up-to-date status updates for dispatchers and customers, and makes logistics more digital, transparent and efficient.

A massive project successfully completed

The project is one of the largest in IDS history:

  • 28 depots migrated to the EIKONA Enterprise platform
  • 426 test cases successfully completed
  • Over 3,200 routes, 2,400 MDE devices and 1,730 active users now run on the platform
  • Project budget: €800,000, duration: 2 years

Outlook: What does the future hold?

With the successful roll-out, IDS has laid the foundation for further digitalisation initiatives with EIKONA Logistics:

  • ETA calculation for more accurate arrival times
  • CO₂ accounting based on primary data regarding vehicle type, utilisation and drive type
  • Examination of the use of AI for automated order entry and data validation

“We look forward to continuing our collaboration with IDS – especially because our projects are always conducted in a spirit of partnership and on an equal footing,” reports Manuel Wetzel, Project Manager and Consultant at EIKONA Logistics.
