What are route staging areas?

Route staging areas are locations at the warehouse doors where packages are temporarily stored for loading. This allows shipments to be prepared and assembled before the vehicle arrives. The vehicle can thus be loaded much faster, increasing productivity. Clearly identifying the route staging areas with signs helps speed up loading as well.

Route staging areas in practice

General cargo transports require various goods that are stored throughout the warehouse. A corresponding route staging area is defined and identified. The articles are collected by forklifts or lift trucks, dropped off at the route staging area by the door and prepared for the next transport leg. Once the truck arrives at the door, it is loaded in very little time. The faster this truck is loaded, the sooner the crew can start loading the next vehicle.
